The difficulty of implementing a payment gateway
Náročnosť implementovania závisí od toho, či máte e-shop postavený na určitom CMS systéme, alebo je naprogramovaný podľa požiadaviek na mieru.
Ak máte e-shop postavený napr. na WordPresse cez WooCommerce, Prestashop, Drupal, Joomla alebo na inom systéme, odporúčame zvoliť platobnú bránu, ktorá je kompatibilná s vašim CMS. Najjednoduchšie je to cez plugin alebo predajnú aplikáciu.

PayPal
PayPal is one of the most famous and widely used payment gateways in the world. To use it, you need to create a business account linked to a bank account for your e-shop. Customers do not need to have a PayPal account to pay with your card or wallet.
It is suitable for e-shops selling in several countries in different currencies. You usually get the money in your account within a few minutes after payment.

GoPay
GoPay is a Czech payment gateway that is also widely used in Slovakia. In 2026 it offers 50+ payment methods in 8 currencies – cards, instant online payments, internet banking, electronic wallets, QR payments and payment in thirds.
The e-shop can be connected via plugins for WordPress, PrestaShop and other platforms. The launch of the gate is free, the standard rate after the end of the introductory tariffs is 0.95% + €0 per transaction. Start (6 months free) and Rast (3 months free or up to €20,000) tariffs are available for new e-shops.

24Pay provides payment by card, bank transfer or immediate online payment (e.g. via the Viamo application). Compared to PayPal, there is no direct integration of the PayPal wallet.

Besteron
Besteron emphasizes fast money transfer directly to a bank account - it does not have a classic online wallet. It offers payment cards and instant online payments in EUR and foreign currencies.

Comgate
Comgate is a Czech gateway also operating in Slovakia. It accepts 9 names and 14 language mutations. It offers payment cards and internet banking of specific banks. Integration primarily via API, for CMS is supported e.g. Shoptet.

TrustPay is an international gateway operating in EEA countries. In addition to cards, PayPal also allows bank transfers. It is licensed and supervised by NBS, a member of MasterCard and VISA Europe.

GP WebPay
Payment gateway cooperating with Slovak Savings Bank (SLSP). Suitable for e-shops for which card payments are sufficient. The establishment takes place through the bank.

Pay by Square
Pay by Square is a form of payment via QR code - the customer scans the code in the bank's application. It is not a classic payment gateway, rather a simplification of the bank transfer during invoicing.

Payment gateways from banks
Several banks in Slovakia offer their own solution for online payments - internet banking and card payments.
Payments via internet banking require the customer to have an account with the given bank. Relying on just one bank is usually not worth it - combine card gateways with instant payments.
Card payments are easy for the customer: he enters the card data, passes 3D Secure verification and the payment is complete.
