It often happens to us that the client asks for the price without giving us detailed information about the new website or web project. You know from to to give me an idea.
The article was revised and updated in May 2026.
That's when the explanation begins that quite a few factors affect the price. If you are buying a car, it also depends on whether you are buying a new BMW, with a powerful gasoline engine and full equipment, or a used octave, diesel with a consumption of 4 liters per 100 kilometers.

Scope of the project
The price of a website can climb to tens of thousands of euros if it is necessary to program special functionality. Examples are various web applications such as advertising portals, comparators, e-shops.
Just the design of the web page itself can cost several thousand euros, if a large number of different sub-pages will be drawn and then they need to be programmed. It is also ideal to test on users.
Multilingualism
With each language mutation, expect increased implementation costs, but mainly for content translation and content deployment.
Choice of CMS - the system on which the site runs
According to the needs of the project, it is advisable to choose the right system. It can easily be an open source CMS such as WordPress. It is sufficient for most small and medium-sized web projects, but it is not necessary for large-scale web applications. For a large e-shop, we prefer to choose a custom-made solution. At the beginning of the works, the future development of the project must also be taken into account. If the deployment is a cheap solution at the beginning, in the future it may happen that completing the functionality will cost more than creating a new tailor-made solution.
Cutting templates from the design
Each web design must be cut into HTML and CSS templates. For the layman, the beautiful design that the designer shares with you must also be translated into a browser for all possible screen sizes. Interaction design (effects, animations) as well as design adaptation for all those devices must also be taken into account.
The price can be increased by:
- number of screens
- creating a responsive version of the page - adapting the content to the screen size, this has already become the standard and we do it by default
- testing and optimizing for older browsers - only for certain projects that expect traffic from older devices
- frequent changes in design already during development
- how crazy is the designer or the owner's wife 🙂
Functionality programming
The price of the project depends on the functionality that the website has to handle.
Examples of functionality:
- Geolocation in Google map and display of the nearest branch
- Possibility to pay through the payment gateway in the e-shop
- Facebook chat integration
- Connection to an external warehouse system
- Export of products to eureka
- Product configurator
- Datalayer for Google Tag manager
- etc
Price for design
The price for web design depends on the style, number of screens, illustrations, purchase of photos, number of iterations during design approval.
We have been doing web design for 20 years. That is, I, Ivan, as the CEO of the vibration.sk agency. Sometimes it is better to get advice from experts than to stick it out and make it up. There are design patterns that users know.
User Experience
Many companies underestimate user experience. It is an issue of information architecture, menu structure, nesting of content, distribution of elements, correct format of information, clarity, number of clicks to reach the goal.
If your project does not reach the set business goals, it is necessary to improve usability, go through statistics, do A/B testing to find out better sales methods and increase conversions. If you have the budget for user testing, you should definitely go for it. Sometimes it is enough to show the website to uninterested users and have them do basic tasks. This can detect school errors almost immediately. Let your mother, for example, buy in your e-shop. Didn't find the basket? Can't complete the order? The more testing, the better the results.
Costs associated with hosting and domain
If you have a regular website, regular shared hosting will suffice. If you need computing power, fast page views, you should think about virtual hosting. If you are building an application with thousands of requests per second, you may reach the stage where you need your own server or use a cloud solution. It also depends on the availability of services provided in the given location. The price for these services can rise from a few euros to several hundred euros per month.
Web copywriting
If you plan to invest in the project in graphics and implementation, you should also think about what the content of the project will be. We often find a nice website on the Slovak Internet, written in the latest technologies, and the website contains lorem ipsum text, or subpages with the text page under construction. Sure. The owner of the company knows best what the company does. But often times there is no time for this, the writing of the text is postponed after the start, and the year does not move with the text. It is not worth saving here. Good marketing text can sell more than polished graphics. The second aspect is good SEO text. Correct headings, correct title, correct structure of links and many other factors influencing the position in search engines. Leave the content in the hands of professionals who deal with web copywriting.
SEO and link building - optimization for search engines
Just having a website is not enough these days. You have to build the right internal and external link profile, build backlinks. Your competition has been doing it for a long time and you are just getting started. You don't have to pay for Google Ads, and in the long run SEO pays off more. The cost of SEO depends on a number of factors:
- competitive environment
- number of main keywords
- traffic and turnover requirements
- project size
- the language and locale for which it is optimized
- many others
Internet marketing
A chapter in itself. The goal is to get users and customers to the website. It includes various activities such as:
- paid advertising in Google Ads or Facebook Ads
- sending newsletters
- writing articles
- link exchange - link building
- social network management
- and many other options
You definitely need to make a strategy digital marketing and long-term development of the project.
Management and maintenance
With the operation of projects, costs arise during operation for routine maintenance:
- hosting
- update of CMS and used technology
- backup
- system administration
- adding new functionality
- adding content by site administrators
How to save on the price of a web project
Good project specification.
The time invested in analysis and specification at the beginning of the project will be returned several times during development and also during operation. Pri creating a website we recommend taking the following steps:
- Define your website goals
- Define who you are building a website for - who is your customer
- Make a list of all pages and subpages - create an information architecture - ideally in a structured form in Excel or Google Sheets
- Draw a wireframe of all types of pages - by hand, in sketchbook, in Figma, in balsamiq mockup. It doesn't matter. But have an idea of what kind of content should be there and what is the user's path to your goal.
- It is ideal to make a clickable prototype that you can also test with users
- Try to write down which pages users will visit most often and from which sources
- Define your call to action elements
- Write down all your expected requirements - functionality
- Phase the project into several parts and work on them gradually
- The ideal approach is LEAN. Start with what will earn you the most. Which is a necessary part of the project and gradually pack.
The right choice of supplier
You can also give the project to a student. But what if he goes to study abroad for a year? Or he stops enjoying it and doesn't answer your phones. Or the time stretches instead of 2 weeks to several months. For a serious business, you need a stable supplier. For larger projects, it is even a partner with whom you work on a daily basis. Another thing is that when you change, it's like a marriage. When you get a divorce, there are lengthy procedures.
